On the 27th January 2020 the move from our Totnes site to the new Newton Abbot site began. The first phase involved removing stock from the shelves, cross referencing it with our system and palletising it ready for the removal van.

The move was completed entirely by inhouse staff therefore it really was all hands-on deck. To ensure a smooth transition period many staff were asked to form teams with people outside of their normal department. This provided the opportunity to develop stronger working relationships with people who we may not have had such frequent contact with in our normal job roles.

Slowly after several long days and nights the warehouse was beginning to show some signs of progress.

At times the task seemed a little daunting, however towards the end of the week when more staff started getting involved the shelving units were dismantled and the clean down began.

After several hours and hard work, every office was empty and the few remaining items were donated to a local charity centre.

Later on that evening the van did its last journey to the new premises.

Now the warehouse was empty, it was time to start packing away the offices, canteen and engineering department…..

With the Totnes site now cleared, cleaned and locked up, it was now time to start doing the complete opposite at the new site.

At this point, we were feeling pretty good about ourselves – until we realised, we had a weekend to set up an entire workplace from scratch….
