We are only a few months away from the 2023 London Marathon. The 26 mile race returns to its traditional April runtime and in the field for the first time will be Tekeurope Sales Account Manager Jon Davis. Jon is running in memory of his Aunty Jill Adkin, to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Jon has set up a JustGiving page where you can read more about why he is running and make a donation. He has surpassed his initial £3,000 target with both the company and a number of members of staff amongst the people that have already donated. On the page Jon is also recording his training, which began in September after the end of the summer heatwave. He has been making good progress and at the time of writing (24/03/23) has run hundreds of miles.

With more than 16 years at the company Jon is Tekeurope’s longest serving member of staff. Joining back in late 2006 initially as an Accountant, Jon moved to the sales team in 2016.

About the Charity

The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) raises money for research into treatments for Motor Neurone disease. This research also looks to gain a better understanding of the disease, with the hope of getting closer to an eventual cure. In addition to funding research the MNDA helps to provide access to care and seeks to improve the quality of life and support for those already living with the disease.

Motor Neurone Disease affects up to 5,000 people in the UK at any one time with a 1 in 300 chance of getting the disease in a person’s lifetime. It affects a persons nervous system, specifically the motor neurones that carry messages from the brain to the muscles. Over time these messages will begin to diminish and then stop, leading to muscles weakening and wasting away.  Unfortunately the disease is currently life shortening and there is no cure, something that the research funded by the MNDA seeks to change.

If you would like to make a donation you can do so on the JustGiving page here. On behalf of everyone at Tekeurope best of luck Jon.
